      /var/yp/nicknames - nickname translation table for NIS maps
  • DESCRIPTION
      nicknames contains a list of aliases and the corresponding NIS maps. There is one entry per line. The default nicknames table looks like:
      <3>passwd
      <3>passwd.byname
      <3>group
      <3>group.byname
      <3>networks
      <3>networks.byaddr
      <3>hosts
      <3>hosts.byname
      <3>protocols
      <3>protocols.bynumber
      <3>services
      <3>services.byname
      <3>aliases
      <3>mail.aliases
      <3>ethers
      <3>ethers.byname
